Catalyst for success despite hurdles
Arika Everatt-Meeuse is making it happen at her family’s Shannondoe Farm
Arika took over the operation of Shannondoe Farm from her parents James and Janeane Everatt almost a decade ago and has made signi cant decisions in that time, one of which was to stand stallions.

According to Arika Everatt- Meeuse, Society’s Chairman, bred 89 mares in 2016 and notes that he stamps his foals both visually and personality wise.
Arika was drawn to Society’s Chairman as a stallion prospect, “He was a balanced, perfect individual,” said Arika explaining why she took on the challenge of standing a horse that made his rst start at age ve, “He was a great turf miler and I liked his pedigree.”
Trainer Roger Att eld was very high on the 2003 son of Not Impossible (IRE) when he began training him as a two year old however a fractured front pastern sidelined the Charles Fipke owned colt for a year before coming back at age 3 seemly unfazed from his injury. However his rst serious work on the newly installed Polytrack surface at Woodbine
resulted in a fractured tibia and not a lot of hope of seeing him race. Remarkably he came back late in his 4 year-old year and was doing so well that he traveled with Roger to Florida. The then 5 year-old won his rst career start on the turf at Gulfstream Park showing Roger that he came back the same horse the conditioner saw at age 2. He was retired sound at the age of 8 after winning 7 of his 30 starts (with 7 seconds and 7 thirds) including wins in the 2010 - G3 Appleton at Gulfstream Park and the 2009 Halton Stakes at Woodbine with career earnings of $772,775.
The stallions at Shannondoe Farm are kept in the main barn with the mares. Arika explained that the stallions are fantastic
to handle when they are among the other horses and not all together in a separate stud barn. “There is room in the barn for one more stallion however I would not introduce two new stallions in the same year.”
