One of the outdoor play areas is nicknamed Alcatraz as it was built so dogs could not escape. The 7ft. high fence is buried into a cemented base underground so dogs cannot jump over nor tunnel out of the enclosed area.
The indoor kennels are completely contained so dogs, such as police dogs, that have the ability to scale or jump fences, cannot get out of their space.
Josh, a regular at Club Amarillo, lives in downtown Toronto and “his people” also have a country home near by. “We never have to worry about him.” says Josh’s owners who were picking him up after a three week vacation, “We drop him off and don’t have to worry. We know he is enjoying his stay.”
The dog boarding fees are $35 per night and day stays are $25.
Each kennel has an orthopedic bed and clients are asked to bring their dog’s favourite bedding, blanket, toys or a piece of clothing to help alleviate any anxiety. Clients are also asked to provide their own food and treats for their dog’s stay at Club Amarillo however food and bedding can also be provided.
A television screen is mounted in front of the kennels where video can be played to also help with anxiety issues (photo right)
Another horse stall in the barn is in the process of being renovated to accommodate a new grooming service which will soon be offered at Club Amarillo.
