LongRun Gala close to Sold Out
If you are planning to attend LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society’s “Black & White Gala” on Friday, September 23rd, then you better hurry because the event is close to being sold out.
The Gala is being held at Woodbine’s trackside Tent, generously donated by Woodbine Entertainment Group, and is gearing up to be an exciting evening featuring top notch entertainment, a plated dinner and open bar privileges along with lavish live auction and silent auction items and door prizes.
The dinner is sponsored by the Krembil Foundation and the refreshments are courtesy of Bill Diamant’s horse Sauvage.
Jason Portuondo and Jeff Bratt will be the Master of Ceremony(s) for the evening with Jeff Healey and the Jazz
Wizards providing the live entertainment sponsored by the Stavro Foundation. The Gala will also feature a few other surprises including an opportunity to have your picture taken with a live zebra from the Bowmanville Zoo, sponsored by Alstructural Handling.
LongRun’s Co-Chair, Stacey Krembil, mentioned in a recent telephone interview, that the response has been great and there are only a few tables or tickets left before they sell out. “There have been so many sponsors and we have been very fortunate. People have been very generous to the cause.”

A Fist Full of Dollars at Fort Erie

The HBPA of Ontario have been busy giving away fist fulls of $100 bills during the month of August at Fort Erie racetrack. During their “T-Shirt Giveaway” contest, anyone wearing their HBPA t-shirt, (given away as part of HBPA Day at the races in July) to Fort Erie Racetrack on Sundays in August were allowed to enter the Cash Giveaway draw where three lucky winners every Sunday each win $1000 cash.
As part of the promotion, all entries from the month were then eligible for a draw on Sunday, August 28, to win two trips including a trip for 2 to this year’s Breeders’ Cup Championships in New York as well as a trip for 2 to the Dominican Republic, courtesy of the HBPA and Fort Erie Racetrack.
