Jockey Todd Kabel achieves 3000th Win Milestone
Jockey Todd Kabel collected his 3,000th lifetime score in Woodbine's second race on Saturday, October 29, 2005. Kabel's partner for the victory was two-year-old Stronach Stables' filly Sprightly, a daughter of Wild Rush trained by Robert Frankel and saddled by assistant Brian Lynch.

ED THOMPSON - CONTINUED FROM PAGE 29
Reve-Du went on to win more than $230,000 and was named Horse of The Year in 1986.
Thompson's luck doubled that year when another of his charges turned out to be very successful. Her name was Delightful Dance, a filly that went on to win more than $100,000 and when her racing career ended she went on to have a successful career as a broodmare.
Over the years Ed has had
many successes as a trainer.
"In 1995 I trained Funboy,
who became Horse of the Year also." said Thompson.
The truth is that he goes to all the sales and carefully inspects every potential purchase. He has a great eye for spotting good conformation in the young, developing bodies of yearlings. "I enjoy inspecting them all, some really look the part." said Thompson.
While it is true that lady luck has a lot to do with winning, Thompson makes sure that he always has a good jockey to lead his charges. "I would have to say that Chris Loseth was always my favorite. He could always get the job done," said Thompson. "He had good hands and nerves of steel." Ed also points out that Loseth was his main rider on 2-year-old Horse Of The Year,
Name For Norm.
Even today, 30 years later, Ed still
enjoys grooming horses and working in the shedrow. "There's just so much action every morning. It's very exciting." insists Thompson who can be seen arriving at his barn every morning about 5:30 to get the horses ready to gallop by 6:00.
This year Thompson has had a pretty good year. So far he has 12 wins, 11 seconds and 13 thirds. Some trainers have favorite wins but as Ed says, "Every win is a good win."
The best compliment a trainer can receive is that he can hear his horses speak to him. And after many years of knowing Ed Thompson, I know he can hear his horses whisper.
