General Royal New to Paddockhurst for 2006
Paddockhurst Stables has been one of western Canada’s top thoroughbred breeding facilities for the past 30 years. Continually striving to offer top notch stallions for the Alberta thoroughbred breeding market, Paddockhurst has recently introduced, General Royal, a son of A.P. Indy, to their roster for 2006.
Paddockhurst’s Managing Partner, Mike Secker, said that when the option to bring General Royal to Alberta came across his desk, they accepted the offer because of the stallion’s race record, sire pedigree and ‘beautiful’ female family.
“I believe that this horse has all the criteria to fit the Alberta market,” said Mike in a recent telephone interview, “We have a good opportunity, with his credentials, to enhance breeding in Alberta.”
The twelve year old stallion (in 2006) has been standing at stud in Kentucky after retiring from racing in 2000. He retired with an impressive race record which included 7 black type wins including the Grade 3 William Kyne Handicap at Bay Meadows and the Govenor’s Handicap at Sacramento. He earned close to $485,000.
General Royal currently has three crops of racing age and his progeny have earned more than $1 million in 2005 and close to $2 million lifetime.
His representatives include: Royal Rebuff, Champion Imported 3-year-old colt in Dominican Republic; Chippewa Trail, a 4-year-old stakes placed winner of $195,316; Sir Laff Alot, a stakes placed 3-year-old colt with earnings of $98,308; Roma Royale, a 4-year-old filly with an impressive 6 wins, 7 seconds, and 9 thirds in 33 starts and more than $155,000 in purse earnings; along with Royal Magician, a filly with earnings of $11,549.
A son of sire of sires, A.P. Indy, General Royal’s female line is equally impressive. His dam Bald Facts, by In Reality, is a stakes producing mare who has two daughters who are producers of graded stakes winners. His grandam is Too Bald, who has produced significant runners and sires; Champion, and sire, Capote ($714,470); Millionaire, and sire, Exceller ($1,654,003); as well as sire American Standard.
General Royal will stand for $3,000 live foal guaranteed.
Situated on 110 acres just south of Edmonton, Paddockhurst Stables prides itself on producing quality thoroughbreds and General Royal joins a quality roster of stallions which also includes; Highland Ruckus, Hurricane Center, and Rebmec.
