Newly Formed CTHS Syndicate In Full Swing
The Game, November 2007 15 Manufacturers
Congratulations to the 2007 CTHS Syndicate Group, Debutante Racing Stable, on their rst win with Fiddler’s Green in Race 3 on October 11 at Woodbine!
“I must say it has been terri c working with this group, and I’ve been enjoying it too,” said Mr. Hillier. “They’re such a fun, exciting group of people to work with, and everyone’s so eager to learn as much as they can about horseracing. Alex and I have been providing them with handouts and explain- ing to them the procedure on naming their new yearling and giving them suggestions on choosing their silks. There are many important decisions new owners have to make, and we’re there for them every step of the way.”

The Ontario CTHS is pleased to announce it has formed a new syndicate for 2007 through its New Owner Syndicate Program. Several people new to the racing industry attended a New Owner Seminar hosted by the CTHS at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion on September 1, where Director Jeff Begg provided them with an educational overview of topics includ- ing types of ownership, purchase options, nancial commit- ments, licensing, insurance, and racing.
Mr. Hillier added that plans have since been made for Debu- tante Racing Stable to spend a day at Gardiner Farms to spend some time with their new yearling and see it under tack.

The syndicate, which is mentored by CTHS member John Hillier and trainer Alex Fehr, attended the CTHS Selected Yearling Sale and successfully bid on Hip #56, a Bold Executive - Mist On the Bay lly, from the Willow Ridge Farm consignment. Two weeks later, the newly formed syndicate spent a Saturday at the races and ended up claiming a three- year-old lly called Fiddler’s Green that day.
The New Owner Syndicate Program was created by the Ontario CTHS to provide new owners with a comfortable in- troduction to racehorse ownership. This program provides the opportunity to get started on the right foot, while making only a 10% investment in a racehorse in return for 100% input from an experienced mentor and trainer.
