Great Expectations!
We expect great things from our horses.
Let’s make sure that they can expect the happy and dignified retirement that they deserve when their racing days are over.
Seven on friday
Tragically blinded by a freak accident at the track as a four-year-old in 2002, Seven on Friday leads a full and happy life being fostered by LongRun, thanks to the generosity of long time sponsors Dave and Christine DiCecco of Greenside Drive Landscaping.
Despite his lack of vision, he navigates his turn-out confidently in the company of an elderly companion,
and receives a lot of love and attention not only from his foster mom, Gail Sim, but also from his sponsor Christine, shown here with her youngest son, Christopher.
Major Zee
Retired in 2006 after eleven seasons at the track and earnings in excess of $364,000, this popular speedster would have been a tough horse to place because of his advanced age.
Enter Donna Ralph, a breeder of champion Miniature Schnauzers and a member of Friends of Barbaro.
Touched by Barbaro’s tragic saga, Donna wanted to help an ex-racehorse and generously jumped at the chance to sponsor the old man.
Major can now look forward to carrots and love from this big hearted animal lover.
Longrun finds loving, adoptive homes
for those thoroughbreds capable of moving on to a second career, And we provide homes for others who can’t.
