Funny Cide Retired
Sackatoga Stable’s Funny Cide, winner of the 2003 G1 Kentucky Derby and G1 Preakness was retired accord- ingtoa statementfromtrain- er Barclay Tagg on July 13.
Funny Cide, one of the more popular horses in recent history, was retired sound with his connections stating that “after the great fun and excitement of watching Funny Cide win the Wadsworth Memorial at Finger Lakes at the age of 7, it would be a good note on which to retire the horse.”
“We’ll probably keep him at the track for a while, and either Robin or I will ride him out to the track with the sets each morning. He’ll continue to be pampered, just as he’s been his entire career. We’re all thrilled to be able to retire him sound and happy.” Said Barclay in an article in The Blood-Horse.
Funny Cide retires with 11 victories from 38 starts, with six seconds and eight thirds, for earnings of $3,529,412.
