Journeyman Corey Continues to Win
Did You Know....
Lady Angela Stakes winner, Bosskiri, will be heading to Florida to prepare for the 2006 Gulfstream meet with trainer
Reade Baker. Bosskiri was undefeated in her two starts at age 2 and won her fourth race in a row in the Lady Angela before finishing fifth in the Labatt Woodbine Oaks.
Reade has since given her the rest of the year off.
Less than a month after losing his 5 pound bug allowance, the now journeyman rider, Corey Fraser, shows no stopping when it comes to his Champion apprentice award winning ways. Corey remains second in the rider standings at Woodbine and despite his change in status he is continuing to inch his way closer to the top position which has been held by apprentice Emma Jayne Wilson for the majority of the meet.
Corey is fifteen wins away from top spot and with six weeks left to the thoroughbred meet at Woodbine, he has a chance at the title spot. Emma Jayne is unlikely to give up her position easily and she continues to grace the winner’s circle at least once
during a card of racing.
However if Corey repeats days like October 21,
when he won 4 races on the card, it will likely be a battle to the finish at Woodbine, and an exciting one at that. Corey was the winner of the opening race as well as the last three races on the card on October 21 at Woodbine.
Current Woodbine Jockey Standings as of Oct 24: Emma Jayne Wilson 850-134-128-121 $5,701,088 Corey Fraser 622-119-96-79 $5,320,338
James McAleney 539-95-89-72 $5,919,719
Todd Kabel 466-87-69-56 $5,611,286 Patrick Husbands 551-86-85-91 $5,218,708

Sid Looking for Second Training Title
Last year’s leading trainer at Woodbine, Sid Attard, is looking for a repeat in 2005 and he just might get it with the season quickly coming to a close.
Sid Attard, who has been leading trainer at Woodbine in 2004, 1996 and the 1982 Autumn meet, currently has 53 wins. Tiller currently sits in second with 45 wins and is tied with trainer
Reade Baker, who is the leading money earner and is looking to be in the top five at Woodbine for the first time in his training career.
