Steve has been a
groom for trainer Mark
Casse for 4 years and
will be heading to New
Orleans with Mark this
winter. “It is my first
time going there. I’m anxious but not excited.”
Katy Morrison aboard the Reade Baker trained 2-year-old stakes winning filly, Mrs. Began, making their way back to the barn after training.
Katy is planning on staying home this winter for the first time in 5 years. She is a new Auntie this year and is looking forward to spending Christmas with her family.

Emma-Jayne to Hong Kong
By Nigel Grif ths
Emma-Jayne Wilson will be out in the Far East
on December 5, competing in the Cathay Paci c International Jockeys Championship at Happy Val-
ley, Hong Kong, making her the rst female jockey to ever take part. She will have some formidable global opponents in Olivier Peslier, Andrasch Starke, Doug Whyte, Damien Oliver, Christophe Soumillon, Japanese star, Yasunari Iwata and current United Arab Emirates champion Ted Durcan, Irishman Pat Smullen and Ryan Moore.
The mounts are randomly selected for the jockeys and whoever accumulates the most points is the winner and collects a rst prize of HK$200,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up collects HK$100,000.
I hope Emma-Jayne has more luck with these selections, than she did at Royal Ascot for the Shergar Cup in 2006 when she seemed to draw the short straw in most of her races.
did you Know....
That owner Charles Fipke purchased G1 2006 Kentucky Oaks winner, Lemons Forever, for $2.5 million out of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale with the intention of breeding her to his stallion Perfect Soul (IRE).
A resident of British Columbia, Charles raced Perfect Soul (IRE), who was a G1 winner and 2003 Canadian Champion Turf Male. Perfect Soul (IRE) now stands at Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky.
Trainer Ralph Biamonte is plan- ning to head south to Florida this winter however he will not be doing any training. “I’m going to Florida to relax. I may have a couple of horses at Gulfstream but they will be with another trainer.”

the meet. He may also take a trip to England for New Years with Dad, and then some R&R before training begins again in February.
Steve Philpott, in his role as “jack
of all trades” is an owner, breeder, trainer, hay/straw/shavings guy, and is also selling Christmas Trees again this season. After all that he is look- ing forward to a well deserved winter getaway vacation.
