When it comes to his prospects for 2005, DePaulo has plenty of reasons for optimism, including a three-year-old by the name of Krz Deed, a half-brother to Krz Ruckus, who could contest this year's Queen's Plate on June 26.
"They are pretty different in look and style," said DePaulo. "Krz Deed is a big- ger, longer horse and he seems to be the type to want to lay off the pace and make
a run. They're close to the same colour, but that's about it."
Not surprisingly, DePaulo's long-term goal is to campaign a Plate winner. For now, though, the focus remains the same as it always has been.
"We've really delved into the Ontario Sires market. We have a lot of young hors- es that we are developing and hopefully, we can win some races with them. The bottom line is working hard and staying on top of things."
A winning formula DePaulo put into motion long ago.
