In 2017, racing fans are invited to enjoy an action- packed two-day event to be held over the Canada Day long weekend as we celebrate the nation’s nest three-year-old horses, highlighted by the prestigious $1-million Queen’s Plate, on the 150th anniversary weekend of Confederation across the country.
If fans are looking for a unique
gift experience this holiday season, Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) has made available a limited block of tickets with reserved grandstand seating starting at $45.
The annual Hats & Horseshoes
Party will also return and feature live
music, food trucks, fashion, games as
the country continues to fete Canada’s 150th birthday though the Canada Day weekend.
Last year, award-winning rockers Hedley capped off the historic Queen’s Plate by headlining an awesome day of racing and live music along with supporting artists Matthew Good and The Strumbellas. Racing fans will be able to dance the night away again at
the 2017 renewal of The Queen’s Plate with a major concert announcement expected in the coming months.
Always an attraction for royalty and celebrities alike, the 2017 Queen’s Plate will mark the 20th anniversary of a memorable visit by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh who cheered home Horse Racing’s Hall of Famer Awesome Again in the 1997 Gallop for the Guineas. Her Majesty returned to
Woodbine again in 2010 when Big Red Mike led all the way in The Queen’s Plate.
To commemorate the iconic Queen’s Plate, WEG’s Creative Services Department unveiled a new logo boasting the traditional colours of royal blue and gold which acknowledges the historic connection to British monarchy which dates back to 1860.
The Queen’s Plate, rst contested in 1860, has been around longer than confederation and is North America’s oldest continuously-run stakes event. Sir Dudley Digges won the 2016 edition of the $1 million race.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster via www.QueensPlate.com.
