Trainer Don MacRae plans to take it easy for seven weeks before joining his horses in Ocala Florida mid-January to begin prepping for Spring racing at Woodbine. Stable star, Puntrooskie, (winner of the 2016 G3 Bold Venture Stakes) is among the 6 horses that shipped South on December 7. Puntrooskie will begin prepping for Woodbine’s opening day Stakes feature, the Jacques Cartier Stakes, in which he nished 4th in 2016 and 3rd in 2015. Don’s D Mac Racing Stable owns the 5 year-old Florida bred by In Summation - Sire Cove, by Montbrook in partnership with Michael Lay and Mike Loughry who also own other horses together in partnership.
Woodbine’s Racing Secretary, Stu Slagle has plans to visit his parents in Houston, Texas for a week or so before returning to Toronto to explore the city during the winter months. Before getting to next season’s planning and paperwork, Stu is hoping check out the Distillery District and take in some jazz at the Rex. An avid basketball fan Stu also plans to attend a Raptors-905 game at the Hershey Centre in MIssissauga.
