STEP 4 Tie off the remaining end with a Clove Hitch.
Note that no slack needs to be saved for the frapping turns, so keep
tension on at all stages of this knot.
TRANSOM KNOT
The Transom Knot is a good way to tie two sticks perpendicular to each
other if you want a lashing that is not bulky. The ends can be cut off
close to the knot.
STEP 1 Arrange the two sticks so that one is laid across the length of
the other, and tie them together with a Double Overhand Noose Knot
(see Chapter 10).
STEP 2 Tighten the rope by pulling the ends in opposite directions.
