Happy 50 Barry!
                                                                             th

For Barry Olszewski Jewel-Osco is a “family affair” because his job is the reason, he
met both of his wives. “My first wife and I went to school together, but we really
didn't know each other. She saw me at work one day and after that we started
dating and got married. Five years after she passed away, my second lived around
the corner from me. We really didn't know each other but our kids did. She saw
me walking out of Jewel-Osco and thought he’s kind of cute. We married five
                                                      months later.”
He has run several departments at several different locations and knows a thing or
two about opening new stores and Grand Re-Openings. “I met Dan Hampton at
one of the stores and almost felt bad after shaking his hand because I had to tell
him that I was a Green Bay Packers fan, and still am.”

Between Barry and his wife they have five children and eleven grandchildren. He
says he loves spending time with the family, playing golf and traveling.
“It has been a joy and a pleasure to have worked for Jewel-Osco for these past 50
years. I've enjoyed meeting and knowing the managers and the employees that I
Barry Olszewski worked with and have formed life-long friendships. The employees are the
(circa 1999) backbone of this company and always will be.”

“For new employees I'd say give 110% and

help the customers out as much as possible. If

you can't help them, find someone who can.” 26
