YOUR GROCERIES … DELIVERED YOUR WAY BY

     Life is busy in 2019. So, finding the time to periodically trek through the grocery store to
     purchase milk, water, meat, cheese, coffee, laundry detergent, shampoo and so on can be a
     challenge.
     Consequently, Jewel-Osco began offering a variety of e-commerce options for the purchase
     and subsequent easy pickup or home delivery in 2017.
    Ordering online is a quick, easy solution with two options available, either through the
    Jewel-Osco online shopping mobile app or online at shop.jewelosco.com. Customers using
    the mobile app can choose items from the app, or even scan items on hand to add them to their
    cart. Once the order is placed, customers may choose the Drive Up & Go option at one of the
    24 selected Jewel-Osco stores where the groceries are loaded into their vehicle or have them
    delivered directly to their home or apartment during a pre-chosen period.
    Shoppers may also opt for a rush delivery through Instacart and anything chosen will be delivered within two hours. 177 stores in the
    Chicagoland area, Indiana and Iowa markets offer this service, according to Cory Murray, Director of e-Commerce for Jewel-
    Osco.
    "We have in-store personal shoppers in the designated stores who collect the items requested and then package them up and stage them for
    pickup or delivery," Murray explained. "To make deliveries we have box trucks that are separated into frozen, refrigerated and dry holding
    compartments and deliveries are made in the early morning, midafternoon or evening, according to the wishes of the customers. They can
    choose a one-, two- or four-hour window for their delivery at different price points."
    Everything that is sold at Jewel-Osco can be ordered, including beer, wine, liquor, some cigarettes, bakery items, produce, deli items and so
    forth. The only exception would be prescriptions, as they are not yet available through e-commerce.
    "The home delivery of groceries has been very prevalent in Europe for 100 years, but it is relatively new in the United States," Murray said.
    "But from the way it has been catching on, we estimate that by 2025, 20 to 30 percent of grocery purchasers will order their groceries this way."
     City dwellers who use public transportation or walk or ride a bicycle are particularly likely to use the service, he revealed, but Jewel-Osco is also
     seeing more and more suburbanites enjoying the white-glove service. Digitally minded millennials are enthusiastic customers of e-commerce,
     as are busy, young parents and senior citizens. The children of senior citizens have also been known to place grocery orders for their parents

     and have them delivered. Some even complete the task from out of state, according to Murray.
     "Right now, we have a great offer for new customers. They can receive $20 off on their first e-commerce order of $75 or more," Murray added.
     "We also periodically offer new grocery items which our e-commerce customers may try for free."
