John was initially hired as a bagger in 1969 but moved up from that
position. “I went from bagger to grocery clerk then checker and
from there produce clerk.”
He met his wife in 1973 at the company and says things have
changed in his five decades at the company. “There are certainly
more products than ever before.”
His advice for new employees. “If you enjoy working with people
get into a management program with Jewel-Osco.”
John says he has worked with a lot of great people and “the
friendships last a lifetime.”
In his spare time he likes running, biking, reading, movies and
traveling.
