                Children Are a Blessing

ORANJESTAD – Universal Children’s Day is impor-
tant. Why? Because today is the day you look at
your child and be aware of all other children in
the world and their life. This day you give more
importance to the rights of each child and the
blessing this young person is. United Nations es-
tablished Universal Children’s Day in 1954 to im-
                           prove children’s welfare, promote togetherness
                           and create awareness worldwide.

Children are entitled to have rights and therefore
November 20th is an important date. It is the date
in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted
the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also
the date in 1989 when the UN General assembly
adopted the Convention on the Rights of the
                           Child.

This year the world is going blue! UN asks individu-
als, schools and corporates worldwide to go blue
to help build a world where every child is in school,
safe from harm and can fulfil their potential. Go-
ing blue activities include: sharing our promo vid-
eo for Children’s day, signing the global petition
and going blue in support of children’s rights in
social media, and much, much more.
