Aruba on its way to Gateway 2030
ORANJESTAD — The government of Aruba together with
Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) and in partnership with
different lenders signed the “Official Financial Closing” for
the Gateway 2030 project.
AAA will be reconstructing and expanding the Airport in
order to be able to deal with the continued growth in
passenger flow. This is to facilitate their experience and
to be able to run a more effective and sustainable op-
eration. The Gateway 2030 project has as main goal to
expand the airport in the future to be able to accommo-
date more commercial flights. The last renovation done
at the airport was “Beatrix 2000” where works started in
the 90’s. 20 years later, the airport renovation will be part
the biggest in Aruba’s history.
The intention of the project is to transform the airport to
be the best in the Caribbean. This will help our economy
and will help the tourism which is our economic pillar. The
investment of the Gateway 2030 project is $275 million. It
will create more than 400 jobs. Construction time is pro-
jected at 5 years.
Minister Dangui Oduber does his utmost to make sure for
tourism stays solid. Minister Oduber congratulates the en-
tire community of Aruba and Aruba Airport Authority N.V.
with the start of Gateway 2030 project. q
