President’s Club
We’ll leave you with one last ghost story, for those agents who will be joining us on our pre-trip extension. The island of Kauai is the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands, so naturally, there are some good paranormal sightings. Here’s one:
On Christmas Eve 1927, a Japanese sherman named Taka was awakened at home by the sounds of drums and singing further up the Wailua river valley, and believing some native islanders must be having a party, for the music and voices were distinctly Hawaiian, he set out with a lantern along a trail to see what was going on. In a meadow, he saw a group of older women seated on the ground, beating drums and singing in unison, while a group of beautiful young women, dressed in ti-leaf skirts, with green leis around their necks, danced a hula. Taka advanced no further, but watched from among the bushes, until suddenly the group faded from sight.
A year later, on Christmas Day 1928, Taka heard the splash of paddles in the river and the swish of water outside his cottage. He saw a strange white canoe pass and disappear around the bend of the river on its journey upstream. Soon after, he heard the sounds of drums and singing far in the distance and walked to the meadow, where he once again observed the same scene—the dancing and the women, and heard the drums beating out the time, and the chorus of singing. Once again, the sight faded away.
Will you see your own ghostly hula when you visit Kauai with us? Only one way to nd out! Our agents who have quali ed for the President’s Club on our February 2018 Hawaii trip will be invited for this pre-trip extension.
