Rebecca Nash as Turandot and Ta’u Pupu’a as Calaf.
What opera is lavish, brilliant, and inspiring enough for a 20th season celebration? The answer is Puccini’s Turandot. The composer’s nal opera is a deeply intense story
of love, death and sacri ce, and
we are excited to have soprano Rebecca Nash performing the
title role, and returning artist and former Cleveland Browns defensive end Ta’u Pupu’a singing the role
of Calaf. The electrifying music of Turandot is matched by the visual experience, including elaborate costumes by designer Martha Ferrara, stunning projections by Kristen Geisler, and intimidating scenic design by Robert Sunderman.
Our Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre production is onstage at the Paramount Theatre on Friday, January 19, 7:30 pm and Sunday, January 21, 2 pm, with Orchestra Iowa, conductor Daniel Kleinknecht, with stage direction by William Ferrara. Please join us for Turandot and our 20th anniversary season special events. We are looking forward to celebrating with you!
