Topic First & Second Conditionals (If Clause Type 1&2)

Language objective • At the end of this lesson, students will be able to form sentences using the
first and second conditional.
• Students will be able to ask and answer questions using the first and sec-
ond conditional.
• They will discuss unreal or imaginary conditions.
• They will be able to differentiate between real and imaginary conditions.
• They will improve their writing / speaking skills.

In this lesson plan, the teacher will make use of the following worksheet.
Worksheet Study on First and Second Conditionals (If Clauses)
Conditional sentences have two clauses (or parts): an “if” clause which expresses the condition,
and a clause which expresses the consequence of that condition. After the if clause, we put a
comma between the two sentences.
1. First Conditionals (IF CLAUSE TYPE 1) è true in the present or the future

b. Use
First conditionals talk about a present condition/action and its present/future consequence.
If you keep this naughty attitude up, I will have to call your parents.
If I get the job, I will all buy you drinks!
If the weather continues like this, we will cancel the garden party.
