Grit Up Activities
Included in each activity is the suggested age and a rough estimate of the amount of time to spend on it.
In regards to age, every activity can be modified with a little creativity so adjust the activity to best
accommodate your child. In regards to time, we want to highlight that it does not have to take a lot of
time. However, there are no time limits! If your child is really engaged and having fun, keep going. For
those activities that require talking or explanation, be thoughtful not to drag on with your words so your
child doesn’t zone out.
Activities are arranged by targeted age from youngest to oldest. With a little creativity you can modify
most activities to meet your child’s needs.
Read the Grit Up Series Books (5+)
Time: 5-10minutes
Purpose: Each book introduces a skill. The book can be an introduction to the skills you are trying to teach your child.
Instructions: There are 8 books in the series. Read one book at a time and focus on the skill in that book. The series does not need to be read all at once. Instead try to spread them out throughout the course of several weeks. While you are reading follow the prompted questions throughout the books. Take your time reading the books with your child and allow them to ask questions as they arise.
