STEPS TO PREPARE YOUR STUDENTS FOR THEIR LIVE FM EXPERIENCE
STEP 1
Start by having your students brainstorm ideas for show segments. Once they have settled on the
segments they would like to produce, complete the RADIO SHOW FORMAT TEMPLATE on this web
page to help with your planning.

STEP 2
As a group, have them read and discuss the HOSTING AND PRESENTING MEDIA BRIEF provided.
Have the group select the students who might be best suited to host segments in their live show,
and as a group rehearse the hosting protocols, including THE 4W’s, outlined in the brief.

STEP 3
Have the group read, discuss and rehearse the advice provided in the HOW TO DO GREAT
INTERVIEWS MEDIA BRIEF available on this web page. Make sure they are well acquainted with the
hand signals they should use when they are part of a panel interview.

STEP 4
Have the group decide whether they would like to produce their own voiceovers, and promote their
live show to their community.
