AUSTRALIAN SPORTING LEGENDS MENTORING TEACHERS AND
CHANGING THE FACE OF AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITIES
THE TRAILBLAZERS Teacher Talk Events is a unique a teaching and learning resource that has
teachers of Certificate III in Sport Coaching mentored by legends of Australian sport, in how the lessons
of sport can be used in the holistic development and workplace readiness of their students.
Delivered by teachers for teachers, this resource consists of over 100 videos of interviews involving 13
teachers of Certificate III in Sport Coaching and six Australian sporting legends (Teacher
Mentors) about the nurturing and modelling of success traits in sport, and how they can be applied to
life, work and collaborations with others.
The objective of this unique professional development experience was to provide an opportunity for
teachers to dive deep into the experiences, successes and setbacks of legends of sport, to identify
behaviours and modelling that their students will be able to recognise, apply, and adopt in their VET
learning, and as part of their lives.
