UNVEILING AND AGREEING TO BASIC
PREMISES, ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND
PROCESSES
Core leadership alignment establishes ground rules for processes and concepts.
Expectations for Core Leadership is to convene an equitable process to:
1. Identify Core Team strengths, capacity and resources, including funds, staff, volunteers
2. Agree to initial roles, record keeping and decision making processes.
3. Choose a variety of platforms for both internal and external communications, e.g. calendar, shared documents, storing files, social media/ on-line presence.
4. Seek intersectional, multi-sector representation in leadership and partners
5. Collect, review, collate and unveil basic premises and approaches
6. Draft general goals, issues of study, initial concept and mission statement.
7. Prioritize initial strategies
8. Draft initial plan for community engagement
to gather feedback, ideas, new perspectives,
and explore feasibility.
9. Present and advocate for the plan to secure
initial resources, locations and participants.
“Remember, Creative Placemaking processes cycle through several levels of re-processing. Expect to Reassess, reconceptualize, update budgets, continue outreach and revisit decisions.”
COMMITTING INITIAL RESOURCES WITH AN EYE TO PROACTIVE INCLUSION, MULTI-SENSORY, MULTI- CULTURAL INTERPRETATIONS
Consider accessibility in its broadest terms. Language translation includes not only spoken,
but also, sign, braille or other considerations for auditory, cognitive or physical challenges. Include plans, wherever possible to support participants who have obstacles to participating. Seek assistance and partnership with organizations who serve marginalized members of the community, so they can be reached and involved. Seek partners who can contribute or provide in-kind services.
Begin relationship building and cultivation of partners to promote the project. Identify local reports and indicators that prove the economic impact
of your Creative Sector and use that to advocate
for initial financial support from local business organizations and government.
