Page 6 - The story of Solomon
P. 6

At home Solomon learned to love his new home more and more every day. The kids and
their families were all different in their own way. Solomon’s family was mixed. His dad is white,
and his mom is black but of a fair complexion. The girl across the street, Solomon learned, is
second generation as her family is from Africa. That means her parents were born in Africa,
making them immigrants, but she was born in America. Her name was Dede. They played almost
every day with the other kids. A set of twins, Christopher, the boy and Christian, the girl, that
were Caucasian. They were called prodigies. They spoke 5 languages between the two of them
and tested at an eighth-grade level. They were home schooled but got to play when school was
out. Mikael was a year older than the kids with a 4-year-old little sister. Solomon watched how
Mikael was with his little sister. She followed him everywhere, like a shadow. Sometimes
Mikael was okay with her around and other times, he yelled at her to go away which always
made her cry, but Solomon noticed Mikael always looked out for his little sister. He thought,
maybe having a little sister wouldn’t be so bad.
