You have an exciting new studio release in early 2021 called
“The Ghost of L.A.”. You mention this is going to be your
favorite one to date and fans of Survivor & Whitesnake will
really like this CD. Can you tell us a little about some of the
songs?
Many artists says it’s their best CD every time they release a
new one. I never said that of any of my albums so I think I’m
entitled to say this once. This is my 20th AOR CD and strangely
there are never been so few guests, but the quality of the songs,
the arrangements and the vocals are out of this world. This is by
far my hardest and strongest album in this genre, reminiscing
of bands like Survivor, Whitesnake, Foreigner or Journey. There
is not one single fillers in this album. I’m proud of all the songs
and they are all ultra melodic with arrangements that will remind
you of classic albums such as “Vital Signs” by Survivor, “4” by
Foreigner or the 1987 album by Whitesnake. Tommy Denander
helped me recreate this 80’s sound and I also think these 10
songs are the best ones I ever wrote.
Who are the featured singers on this release?
The list is short compared to my other albums but the talent is big! “The Ghost Of L.A.” features great
performers such as Tommy Denander (Alice Cooper, Steve Walsh), Paul Sabu (Only Child, Kidd Glove,
John Waite), Rick Riso (Chasing Violets, AOR), Steph Honde (Hollywood Monsters, Now or Never) &
Markus Nordenberg (Coastland Ride, Pearls & Flames). These guys are awesome!
How did you pick the 3 songs for the Perris Records CD sampler from the “The Ghost Of L.A.”?
It was hard to choose since all the songs are at least as strong. So in fact I picked up the first 3 songs of the
album so people gets an idea what this AOR is all about. But there are more gems and some of my favorite
songs are not included in the CD sampler. But don’t ask me to choose between them all ‘cause they are all
favorites of mine. My friend and co-producer Tommy Denander thinks so too and believe it’s the strongest
AOR release he has ever worked on.
How has the pandemic affected you in France? Did it slow down the process of finishing this CD?
Usually I travel more to record with my singers and direct them so I get the result I want. I’m very
perfectionist. Now with the pandemic I had to do everything by internet, by email or Skype. It wasn’t easy
but since I had less guests, everything went smoothly and quite fast. These singers are ultra talented and a
good friend of mine like Paul Sabu understands right away what I want. He’s one of the rock legends and a
top producer so he knows what’s best for a song. It was an honor for me to have all these guys who
responded beyond the call of duty! And finally, people were more
available since they were stuck at home, so I won’t say “Thank
you Covid 19” but in a way it helped a lot to finish the album
faster ha! ha!
Thank you for taking time for this interview and any last
words to the Fans?
Thank you for having me in your great magazine. I want to thank
all the fans worldwide who still support music by buying physical
CD’s, and people who likes bands such as Survivor, Whitesnake
or Foreigner should really find something they like in my new
AOR album “The Ghost Of L.A.”. Those who didn’t know AOR
before and like to rock should give a try to the this new CD that
will stay for me the best one I did in the Melodic Rock style.
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed recording it. Keep
on rocking music friends!
