LASTWORLD Interview with
VOODOO MOONSHINE
JIM & DAVID
Hello Jim & David from Lastworld and welcome to Rocknation. Let’s
start off with your “Escape The Eclipse” CD. Please tell us about
some of the tracks.
JIM: “The Sanity Is Lost” Highly inspired by The Winery Dogs, the forest
thing I had written after hearing their debut album. Lyrically is about how
many keyboard warriors there are in the world. “Just The Same” The
result of listening to Survivor High On You And Van Halen Jump Halen to
back. “A Letter To A Friend” It’s about what could of been if you chose a
different path.
DAVID: “Escape the Eclipse” includes radio-friendly pure melodic rock
styles with songs like “Never Gonna Let You Go”, “Just the Same”, “She Wants More” and “It’s Hard”. You’ll also hear a few
modern rock inspired tunes like “The Sanity is Lost” and “Take Me Away”. Of course, a great melodic album also includes a
couple of ballads, and those are “Who Holds Your Heart” and “A Letter to a Friend”. Both are a couple of my favorites.
How do you compare your last “Fractured Mirror” CD to this one?
JIM: For me, it’s just a continuation of what I like to write, musically I like so many styles and even though I stay in the
Melodic Hard Rock vein but I do include traces of other styles.
DAVID: Fans of “Fractured Mirror”, or any LastWorld music, will also dig “Escape the Eclipse”. The formula hasn’t changed.
We give you more of the styles of rock that we love. I think each album shows a little bit more maturity and stronger
collaboration efforts between Jim and myself, and Escape is no exception.
If you had to tell someone what your music sounded like, what bands would you mention?
JIM: For me the list could be long Triumph, Kiss, Journey, Enuff Znuff, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Cheap Trick and so on. This
list could truly could go on...lol
DAVID: I would describe
LastWorld as being a
combination of all of our
influences, which are heavily
80s rock based, but refreshed
for the 2020s. Sounds
similar to Journey, Bon Jovi,
Van Halen, Gotthard, Def
Leppard, and Extreme will be
noticed, but there are also
some more modern rock styles
included as well.
Jim & David who did the
music and lyric writing for
this release?
JIM: I write the songs but let’s
face it, David brings them to
life...
DAVID: Jim is the songwriter
and instrumentalist. He
provides me guide vocals (his
original melody ideas) and if
I have any of my own ideas
for improvement I will make
changes that I see fit. I feel my
job vocally is always to bring
the song to the next level.
