Club Members responsibilities
PCC members abide by PCC rules and its codes of conduct.
PCC coaches and volunteers abide by PCC & BC Coaches/ volunteers codes of conduct.
PCC members have a “Duty of Care” to each other to manage the risks associated with PCC
activities & maintain each others safety.
Canoeing is ‘an assumed risk’, ‘water contact’ activity
PCC Club members acknowledge Canoeing is ‘an assumed risk’ sport, when signing their
PCC membership form or consent form. They also agree to behave responsibly and follow
safety instructions.
Parents acknowledge these ‘assumed risks’ on behalf of their children & take responsibility
for their children’s behaviour on Club activities.
PCC manages & minimises these ‘assumed risks’ for all PCC activities through generic & dy-
namic risk assessments.
Coaching
PCC activities are organised by qualified BC coaches in line with BC & PCC policies, & proce-
dures
PCC coaches and volunteers are vetted and keep their qualifications current.
Health & safety
PCC implements a number of Health and Safety policies to promote the safety
of all its members.
First Aid
First Aid Equipment is provided at all Club activities, either in the “safety box” or in the
“safety bag”.
All PCC coaches are qualified First Aiders; they are present on all activities, in accordance
with PCC Operating & Safety Procedures.
Welfare of Members
Club members’ welfare is paramount; if members experience or observe any form
of abuse, they can contact the PCC Welfare officer in accordance with the
Club’s safeguarding and equity policy. Insurance
PCC is affiliated to BC and has insurance for all its activities.
The Club’s equipment is also insured.
Complaints
Any complaints about the club will be investigated by the committee in line with sec-
