Armaflex BIM objects
Now in the NBS National
BIM Library
The future of construction is digital. Even though many architects and specifiers are sceptical about this development, the digitization of the construction industry is making great strides. Because buildings can be planned completely digitally from design to commissioning, maintenance and demolition, ‘Building 4.0’ allows increased planning security, process optimization, efficiency and greater sustainability.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is based on the consistent use of digital building models. These models form an information database for all aspects of the building and provide a reliable resource for decision- making throughout the lifecycle – from the preliminary planning to demolition. The USA is a pioneer in the use of BIM: as early as 2012, 71 % of architects, engineers, building contractors and building owners used BIM.
BIM pioneer in the insulation industry
Armacell supported this development early on, introducing a BIM module for the Autodesk Revit program in the USA back in 2011. Now the company is the first manufacturer of flexible insulation materials in the UK to provide BIM objects for planning technical insulation for HVAC equipment digitally. The new Armacell BIM objects provide a sound basis for decision-making around the specification of flexible technical insulation materials to reduce energy consumption. Even at the very early design stages, the BIM objects allow rapid and meaningful energy analysis.
The objects can be downloaded from the NBS National BIM Library free of charge. They include the Armacell premium brand tube and sheet products and are suitable for the Revit building design software and the IFC format.
