Armaix VVS pipe support
Innovaive PET insulaion clamp for heaing and plumbing applicaions
A completely new insulated clamp for the Danish mar- ket: the Armafix VVS pipe support made of recycled PET offers an efficient insulation solution for mounting heat- ing and plumbing pipes.
Armafix VVS is supplied in a practi- cal combi pack with the matching pipe clamps on the Danish market.
Heat losses due to uninsulated pipe brackets
Whereas on cold pipes thermal bridges as a result of uninsulated pipe supports can lead to condensation and expensive secondary damage, the energy losses on hot pipes are usually not detected. The thermal bridging effects only become visible on thermal images. Depending on the pipe diameter, the heat loss from an uninsulated pipe clamp can be equivalent to the heat loss from up to 1 m of uninsulated pipe.
Stricter requirements in Denmark
Nevertheless, in practice pipe clamps are often not insulated properly. In Denmark, this omission was rectified by the 2014 amendment of the Danish standard DS 452. If metal pipe clamps which penetrate the insulation layer are used on technical installations, these thermal bridges must now be compensated for by higher insulation thicknesses on the whole system. If uninsulated pipe supports are used, insulation thicknesses have to be increased by up to 36 %, depending on the pipe outer diameter and the specific requirements.
Outstanding technical and mechanical properties
Armafix VVS consists of recycled PET around which shells made of painted aluminium sheeting are glued. These shells also act as an exter- nal vapour barrier. The pipe support can be installed quickly, easily and neatly: the one-piece pipe support is simply opened, placed around the pipe and fastened with the metal clamp. During the subsequent insula- tion work, the insulation material is pushed up tightly against the pipe support.
Upcycling: High-tech product made out of PET bottles
Armafix VVS is made out of the recyclate of PET bottles. The material has an excellent environmental performance: PET requires over 60 % less energy for its production than PUR and releases over 80 % less CO2. PET made of recyclate even goes one better: the product consumes 40 % less energy and causes 30 % less CO2 emissions than conventional PET foams.
