Recommended Solution
Recommendations
• An FP135 Medium Care HACCP-compliant facility would provide adequate space for the volumes of material indicated while complying with export standard certifications.
• French beans, snow peas: Ideal temperatures for storage 4oC - 8oC.
• Birds-eye chilies: Fresh pods for export and processing require refrigerated tracks in which
temperatures can be maintained at 8˚C. On arrival at the pack house, the crop should undergo pre cooling at a temperature of 8˚C to remove field heat. Chilies can remain fresh for three to five weeks when stored at a temperature of 7˚C to 10˚C and 95% relative humidity.
• Passion fruit: confirm which variety is. one or two varieties. Yellow passion fruit should be stored at 7 to 10°C (45 to 50°F) with 90 to 95% relative humidity. Purple passion fruit are chilling tolerant and can be stored at 3 to 5°C (37 to 41°F) for 3 to 5 weeks.
• Passion fruit produce very high levels of ethylene, therefore can not be in the same CS with the additional three crops.
Conclusions
• The FP135 should be fitted with 2 cold storage (15m2 and 30m2) to provide a differential temperature for the produce mix. The purpose of this will be to segregate final product, French
.
Beans and Snow Peas and Birds eye Chilies which could be together in one room, and Passion Fruit
in the other room.
• If the location lacks a grid connection, or if the client would like to incorporate a renewable power
source, the integration of a solar solution could be provided
• The plant provides the required administrative and hygiene areas needed for HACCP certification,
process supervision and low contamination.
