FINAL REFLECTION

English is a language that contains a wide variety of aspects. This language is one of
the most known languages around the world. People used to investigate about the different

strategies a person can use to develop the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing,

that the language requires, but it is important also to know what are the changes this language
faced through time and how it was taking the form it has nowadays. So, The History and

Language of English Culture, was a subject that taught me about the many things related to

English that we can investigate and analyze to understand the language in a better way.

The History and Language of English Culture, provided me with some techniques and
strategies to make use of linguistic elements, psychological processes, and sociocultural

aspects in order to apply them in the teaching-learning process in an effective way, that I will
apply in my professional development. Further, I learnt to analyze some aspects that are

common in the educative area; for example, I developed an understanding of English-

speaking cultures and its roots as well as how languages develop under different cultural
regimes, with an emphasis on critical thinking.

In conclusion The History and Language of English Culture, was a subject very useful

in my training as a student because with all the knowledge that was provided to me I learnt
to explore and analyze the relationship between the language that they have been learning

and historic and current political, cultural, and demographic situations in the context of the

                  United States and American English.
