  A barrel mold (Figure 8.15), a/k/a “Hot Dog” splice, is a cylindrical-shaped mold joining two or more cables together. There is very limited pull strength in a barrel mold joint.
T-splice, Y-splice
A T-splice and Y-splice are shown in Figures 8.16 and 8.17, respectively.
Breakouts
An example of breakouts is provided in Figure 8.18 where T-splices with short cables are termi- nated with in-line connectors for attachment to threaded post connectors intended for installation in separate pressure cases.
