12 month bottom duration. The docking station will have a 5 year lifetime (Figure 23.14(b)). It will also be capable of both RF and acoustic communications while still using a fiber-optic tether (if high-bandwidth control is necessary). Inductive coupling can provide 150 W1 kW power for recharging the onboard batteries. An interesting capability of the Sabertooth is its ability to maneu- ver in any direction/orientation in order to position itself to use underwater tooling. The unique design of the vehicle allows it to position vertically, horizontally, upside-down, etc., in order to align with the object to be worked upon.
