Miss Stannard was Sally’s first inspiration at Calne. Spiritual journeys to India, Egypt, the Pyrenees, Japan, Glastonbury and Iona were to influence her paintings. Sally’s work normally arises from the sub-conscious. In 2015, Storm Desmond washed away 50 years of original water colours. This is her first painting for three years.
“The culture of the Japanese people embracing beauty and respect for the Spirit is my inspiration. My privilege was to meet the Emperor’s eldest daughter in 2006 to celebrate the birth of the new Emperor.”
