 Nicola BEATTIE
Blessing, 2015
Patinated Bronze, 63cm x 33cm x 27cm, £7,500
Year left 1983
Having trained at Exeter and Wimbledon Art Colleges between 1984 and 1990, Nicola Beattie specialises in contemporary sculpture using traditional materials of stone, bronze and alabaster.
Nicola’s current work focuses on water and light and is sculpted in alabaster as well as cast in bronze. ‘Blessing’ is the second one in a series of bronze abstract water drop pieces made with contrasting textures; the patinas emphasise the impression of light reflecting across water. Each piece has gold highlights to give a further illusion of rippling light. This sense of light on water pervades her paintings, as well as sculptures, being central to her work.
