A Summer of Travel
The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Hampshire
The New Hampshire and South Carolina societies hosted a weekend reception at Anderson House this March. The event provided an oppor- tunity for new and old members to meet and familiarize themselves with Society headquarters. Later that month, the New Hampshire Society’s spring meeting was held at the Somerset Club in Boston, where thirteen new members were elected to our ranks.
In May, fourteen members of our New Hampshire Society along with nine spouses traveled to Philadelphia to take part in the 2019 Triennial. The Pennsylvania Society members were excellent hosts and Philadelphia provided an abundance of Revolutionary War venues.
Several New Hampshire members joined other members across the country this summer to host the 2019 French Scholar, Hubert de La Jonquière. Dr. Hollis Merrick hosted Hubert at his residence on Lake Erie, where Hubert had the opportunity to experience boating on the Great Lakes. In August, Randall Hammond hosted Hubert in Westport, Connecticut. With the assistance of a team of local Society members, Hubert toured Mount Gulian, West Point, and Fraunces Tavern, took a boat tour around Manhattan, attended dinner at the University Club of New York, toured the Connecticut coast, and participated in an authen- tic New England lobster bake.
Members of the New Hampshire delegation participated in the Triennial business meeting.
