And a person on stage during a hypnosis demonstration that is seeing a bird flying around that no one in the audience can see is also having a hypnotic hallucination. A person that drives right past their street without realizing it has experienced hypnosis, and the person that is so “into" the TV show they are watching and doesn’t hear someone in the same room talking to them is experiencing hypnosis. Hypnosis is about the mind, how it works and how it can be made to work in a far better way for your success … for you to become a winner in life.... for you to become a success in life. The truth is that only one person stands between you and success… and that person is you!!!! And, when you learn to work with your own mind, you can make yourself the success you want to be. So, it isn’t a big mystery… although many people want you to think it is. That belief could benefit them and then they might have the upper hand. So let’s dismiss some of the myths. Virtually everyone can be and has been in hypnosis. Everyone of average intelligence or better can gain the hypnotic state using a hypnotist as a guide. Since we are all unique individuals, everyone experiences hypnosis a little differently, and while it may take some people more practice than others, pretty much everyone who wants to, can go into a guided hypnotic state. Technically if you have gone to sleep and (hopefully) awakened, you have passed through the hypnotic state. In hypnosis you are not asleep and you are not unconscious … in fact you can be more aware than when you are in the normal conscious state. Generally you will be totally relaxed, and you will have the feeling that most of us get right before we fall asleep. You will experience that kind of relaxed, dreamy feeling where almost everything has stopped bothering you. You are in control, and you won’t say things and won’t do things that you would not normally do, (which is why I still have to wash my own car, mow my own lawn, and also why my daughter, who prosecutes criminals for a living, has never had to prosecute someone that "robbed a bank under hypnosis"). You can even lie in hypnosis. And for all of you that have seen some of the old movies … you can’t get stuck in hypnosis. You might drift off into sleep for a while, if the hypnotherapist is really boring, but you won’t get stuck!!! Anytime you are doing something without thinking about it, you are using your subconscious mind. It doesn’t matter if you are driving a stick shift car, or just walking and talking. It is your subconscious mind that is doing all that work, and that powerful subconscious mind is where we want to go with hypnotherapy. A scientist said that the subconscious mind is two million times more powerful than the conscious mind, so let us use it to a greater advantage. []
