EBOLA COMPASSION RELIEF
TZU CHI AND THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
In 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 goals to reach by 2030, called the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). Tzu Chi Foundation’s relief efforts in Sierra Leone is closely aligned
with several of the SDGs, demonstrating commitment towards building a more sustainable world.

No Poverty Tzu Chi builds on the resiliency of the poor and
vulnerable populations of Sierra Leone by providing
basic necessities, such as its award-winning Multi-
Functional Portable Beds to Government Hospitals for
patients to sleep on and Eco-Blankets to orphaned
children to keep them warm, reducing the disparity
between the wealthy and the poor.
No Hunger Tzu Chi fed the community of Kroo Bay with 13 tons of
rice after the devastating September 2015 flood. Tzu
Chi also continuously supplies several orphanages with
rice.
Good Health Tzu Chi’s Multi-Functional Portable Beds functioned
as an easy-to-clean and sanitary alternative to cots
in governmental hospitals. Tzu Chi also distributed
blankets to reduce illnesses due to cold weather, as
well as basic medical supplies such as stethoscopes and
facemasks to local medical facilities.
Responsible Tzu Chi distributed its award-winning Multi-Functional
Consumption Portable Beds to Government Hospitals for patients
to sleep on and Eco-Blankets to orphaned children to
keep them warm, reducing the disparity between the
wealthy and the poor.
Climate Action Tzu Chi strengthens the resilience and
Partnerships for the Tzu Chi primarily partners with Healey International
Goals Relief Foundation, Caritas Freetown, and the Lanyi
Foundation to maximize effectiveness and efficiency in
its relief efforts, preventing overlap of efforts.
