Valedictorian Speech Graduating Class of 2019

ur esteemed guest of honour, sir, other distinguished
Oguests, faculty, the graduating class, parents, friends and
students, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this colourful
event, the 8th graduation ceremony at Outspan Medical Col-
         lege.

This is a great time to be alive and to be at Outspan Medical
College. How many people are happy to be here?
I had no idea what psychology was when I joined Outspan. I
only wanted to be in a medical school doing a clinical course.
I believe most of us didn’t have an idea of what our courses
entailed or of what life in Outspan would be like, isn’t it?
And, I know most of us have faced a lot of challenges
throughout our journey here in Outspan.

                                                                                 Muya Rukia Ibrahim
Owing to financial challenges, personally, I remember selling Valedictorian Class of 2019
deras to get pocket money and money for transport to enable
me get to class. You can imagine balancing the demands of
being a college student with freedom, adjusting, and running
a small business. “Happiness is not

Outspan has changed my life. Outspan has given me the op- in the mere posses-
portunity to see life differently, and the knowledge and skills
to become a competent and empowered medical profession- sion of money; it lies
al. I believe I couldn’t have achieved all this without my class-
mates and my lecturers. I would like to appreciate Madam in the joy of achieve-
Cathy, the psychology head of department for mentoring me
not only professionally, but also personally. Madam Cathy, I ment, in the thrill of
am grateful for your support. I have learnt a lot from you.

                                                                             creative effort.”
I would like to say a big thank you to parents and friends. If it
was not for your support, we would have not made it this far.
Congratulations to the graduating class. Congratulations to -Franklin D. Roosevelt
everyone. This is an achievement for all of us.
In the words of singer, poet and civil rights activist, Maya
Angelou, “I encourage you to live with life, be courageous,
adventurous, give us a tomorrow more than we deserve.”

“The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get

                                               up eight times.”

                                          -Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
