PARENTS
The Unit depends very much on the support of parents of our Cadets for
the maintenance of Unit standards. “Dress" for a soldier is his own responsi
bility. “Dress" for a Cadet is largely his mother's responsibility. A poorly
dressed Unit needs no further enquiry as to the extent of its mediocrity. We
wish to thank all mothers of our Cadets for their very fine support in the
matter of turnout of our boys. Without this, morale would suffer tremendously.
A.R.A. STAFF
We have always been most fortunate throughout the years in the allocation
of our A.R.A. Staff. This year we have been extremely well served by
Warrant Officer N. STEWART, who has done all possible to answer the needs
of the Unit. The Unit also wishes to express its thanks for the interest shown
by the R.S.M.. Warrant Officer G. EVANS, in our Unit, and for the helpful
advice he has so often given.
ANNUAL CAMP
Our Annual Camp was again highly successful. This phase of Cadet
activity is the ultimate in interest for our Cadets. The Unit is still divided, with
the Senior Cadets at CROW'S NEST, and although there is always satisfaction
in knowing that they thoroughly enjoy themselves “up there", there is still the
regret at the divided “family." Reports from CROW'S NEST leave no doubts
as to the standard of our lads with their advanced training.
Many weeks of careful planning and hard work ensured that the Unit
would enter Camp with better facilities than ever before. On Day 1 the Cadets
worked like beavers and before nightfall the Unit was well established. I am
quite certain that all Cadets who toiled so hard to build the Camp viewed the
scene with satisfaction and pride. I hope that some Cadets learned a vital lesson
here that real effort rarely fails to bring success.
For a period of three days the Unit enjoyed the company of the Principal,
Mr. J. F. GUY. His presence is always most welcome among the Cadets.
His obvious interest in all phases of Cadet activity is a spur to all members
of the Unit. I am quite certain that the Principal was constantly aware of the
high standard of the Unit and made an accurate assessment of the amount of
planning and hard work by many of its members to get the Unit so well “on
the ground".
