Supreme on water, supreme on land.
The victory now is in our hands.
                               M-I-T-C-H-E-L-L,
                               Mitchell !
Although we did not win everything this year, we remain supreme in spirit.
In the Inter-House Swimming Carnival we were a proud second owing to the
effort of many of our House. Our thanks go to all those who participated.
especially Susan Frazer. Judy Roff. Nan Fraser. Daina Ozolins, Tommy Redfern,
        Andrew Smith and David Lamond.
In the Inter-House Athletics Carnival, even though we were placed third
overall, we had the top number of individual champions. Congratulations go to
Dawn Bodger. who won the Girls’ Under 16 Championship; Kaye Boone, who
won the Girls' Under 14 Championship; A. Arthus. who tied for the Boys'
Under 15 Championship; T. Redfern, who won the Boys' Under 14 Champion
ship; and C. Taylor, who tied for the Boys' Under 13 Championship. Competi
tion for Mitchell was tough this year, but House members on the whole
        worked well.
Mitchell was well represented in all inter-school sports, inter-house com
petitions, G.P.S. and Zone meetings. The House Captains are grateful for the
help and encouragement given by Miss Bunn, Mr. Pearson, Marjolyn Terlaak,
Elspeth Blair, and Ricky Holland. Thanks also go to the other hard-working
Mitchell teachers who have helped Mitchell's high standard in sport and in the
        classroom.
We know that Mitchell will do well next year, for it has much young
talent ready to prove itself. In closing, we would like to congratulate all Houses
on their fine sportsmanship and keen competition and to make a special vote of
thanks to Miss Nixon, who has encouraged the girls in all fields of sport.
Finally, we send wishes for the best of luck to those, like ourselves, sitting
for public examinations at the end of the year.

           HOUSE MASTER : Mr. Hamilton.

HOUSE VICE-CAPTAINS: Wilhelmina Kooyman, Darryl Wright.
ONE-STAR CAPTAINS: Denise Scarborough, Darryl Webb.
This year of the Astronauts' landing on the moon. 1969. has also been a
good one for staff and students comprising Oxley House.
This year Oxley began the competitive year with hopes of improvement and
determination. Under the capable hands of Mrs. Roberts and Mr. Hamilton,
Oxley won the very keenly contested Inter-House Swimming Carnival. Winning
this carnival by a comfortable margin, Oxley was “well under way” for this
year's sporting competitions. The enthusiasm and encouragement shown by the
House Mistress and Master urged Oxley on towards this well-deserved position.
