Principles of Reinforcement
Reward the performance, as opposed to the result
Positively reinforce effort and desirable attitude
Use reinforcement that encourages intrinsic motivation
Positively reinforce process goals on the way towards achieving performance goals
Recognise actions that can go unrewarded like movement off the ball or effective communication
Correct constructively using positive – corrective –positive statements
Use negative sanctions in an impersonal manner – sanction the wrong action, not the person
