In the heat of battle
In competition players must make decisions under pressure while a multitude of factors are in play. It's not easy.
Often only the outcome is reinforced because of an "end justifies the means" bias. For effective reinforcement to be consistent and to be fully understood by the player, coaches need to be aware of what they are supporting and what they are trying to change.
?What and how you reinforce as a coach should reflect your philosophy and values instead of your personality. This can be difficult in the heat of battle.
