   Reinforcement
In communication, the meaning of the message is more important than the delivery.
Reinforcement is the application of rewards or punishments to influence an action or behaviour. When the consequence of an action causes it to be repeated reinforcement is involved.
If executing a skill has a good consequence athletes will repeat the behaviour to get more positive reinforcement.
If executing a skill has a bad consequence athletes tend not to repeat the action to avoid negative reinforcement.
     ?
Can you identify when you are positively and negatively influencing an athlete's performance of a skill through reinforcement?
