They swam and kept looking back, worried, till they reached a rock and hid behind it.
Three things were left behind: the block of light, the destination and a best friend.
They could still see her from far, small and hazy, as they saw some quarrel and then some
running.
Wobbly stepped outside and ahead of the rock as if he could save her, crying now.
And he did.
There was a jolt in the earth that stopped her running feet and it started trembling. The
earth moved, in a chunk around where she now stood.
The earth moved in a cut section where Wobbly stood too.
Ginger’s earth lifted up, and Wobbly’s down.
Everyone looked, unmoved.
The mermaids encircled her earth looking at it in disbelief, and she stood at it vigilant,
looking at her friends now.
“Go, Ginger. Go!”
Wobbly whispered.
