YBAM opines that when Malaysians of different religions, beliefs, and
races enter places of worship of various religions, they should contribute to
establishment of friendly relations, improvement in knowledge and
understanding of each other's religion and beliefs, and the common
agenda of inter-religious and interfaith unity, rather than focusing on the
missionary or proselytising agenda. If there are calls for Muslims to
legitimately enter non-Islamic places of worship to preach in the current
inter-religious and interfaith ecosystem, the situation will instead cause
suspicion, distrust, and disharmony among various religious and faith
adherents.
YBAM supports the calls from The Malaysian Consultative Council of
Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) on this
issue, which emphasises the respect for the of places of worship and social
harmony. YBAM hopes that people from all walks of life in Malaysia will
work together to not provoke religious sensitivities and to respect the
religious freedom protected constitutionally by Article 11 of the Federal
Constitution.
