Below: Sir Frank Whittle, originally a boy entrant to the Cadet College and, of course, inventor of the jet engine, returned to Cranwell on 4th October 1962 to name the new instructional building 'Whittle Hall', after himself.
Below: On 17th May 1966 the Rt Hon Viscount Trenchard of Wolfeton, the only surviving son of the first Viscount Trenchard, Chief of Air Staff 1919-1929, named the new Department of Engineering building 'Trenchard Hall'.
